£150 energy bills rebate has been announced by Government

16th March 2022

As your District Council we only receive 10% of your Council Tax bill to deliver over 50 services including waste collections, planning, supporting communities and many others. Since Covid-19 hit, in addition to these services, we set up drop in clinics that administered over 5,000 vaccinations; helped businesses across the District that were affected by the pandemic to access the Covid rate relief scheme and have awarded over £48 million in grant funds to support local businesses in the District.

We don't deliver other council services such as road maintenance (including potholes), libraries, adult social care, education and children’s services which are all delivered by the county council, which is a separate organisation.

Watch Leader of the Council, Councillor Michele Mead explain what we have delivered for you in 2021 below.

In late April, households in council tax bands A-D will be eligible to receive the Council Tax Rebate announced by the Government to help with rising energy bills. To find out more, visit our website.

The easiest way for households to receive their rebate is by signing up to our online payment system, OpenPortal. You can sign up here.

First payment will be due out by the end of April for those on our OpenPortal system. If you are unable to set up a direct debit via OpenPortal we will be contacting you separately to organise payment.
