‘We are the Champions’: councillors handed key roles

23rd June 2019

Five West Oxfordshire councillors have taken on specific responsibilities over and above their normal duties.

Council leader James Mills has made them ‘champions’ in a bid to tackle issues in key areas that are of particular importance to residents in the District.

As a result, Cllr Nick Leverton has become Armed Forces and Veterans Champion; Cllr Harry St John is Rural Champion; Cllr Louise Chapman is Elderly Persons Champion; Cllr Andrew Beaney is Young Persons Champion and Cllr Jill Bull is Social Inclusion Champion.

Cllr Mills said: “Every councillor is embedded in their community but we know there are areas across the District where a specific focus is required.

“Each of these individuals has a depth of experience in their allocated field either through their career or dedication to a particular area of expertise. I am sure they will make a real difference for residents and I know they are looking forward to embracing this challenge.”
