Scam Phone Calls

2nd September 2019

Police have received multiple reports regarding a number of telephone scams circulating in the Chipping Norton area. A number of people have received calls from scammers claiming that they will be terminating internet contracts due to outstanding payments. Other reports have been scammers claiming to be the police stating that they are wanting to visit people’s addresses to start up some kind of emergency response/neighbourhood watch initiative. If you have received one of these calls and you are unsure if it is a scam. Contact your internet provider from a different phone and use a genuine phone number from a bill or your policy documents. If you have been contacted by someone claiming to be from police and you are unsure, ask for their name and shoulder number and call 101 from a different phone.
